Real World Leadership in a Professional Governance Model: Shifting the Leadership Paradigm to Enhance Patient Outcomes and Nurse Satisfaction

Strong and effective nurse leadership is mission-critical, impacting nursing professionals’ opportunity to make high-value nursing contributions, thereby also impacting patient outcomes, job satisfaction, and retention. However, the leadership capacity and skills needed to meet the present moment in nursing differ greatly from the prevailing leadership models built on industrial-grounded research and theories–models that are no longer relevant to advancing professional practice nor to present times.

Dr. Porter O'Grady will explore what real-world contemporary leadership looks like in a Professional Governance model and how it differs from predominant leadership models. He will share leadership strategies that can be put into practice today to best empower nursing professionals to advance nursing strategic objectives, deliver high-impact nursing contributions, and meet their own professional aims. Participants will be challenged to reflect on their own leadership approaches and in what way they may need to be confronted and changed.

Redesigning Nursing Care Delivery: Strategies for Leadership Teams to Jump Start the Process
Wednesday, April 24th, 2024, 12:00 - 1:30 PM ET via Zoom
For nursing executives and senior nurse leaders

Redesigning Nursing Care Delivery - Executive Session

Current nursing care delivery models rely on the availability of many nurses and are unsustainable given the reality of significant workforce shortages. The gap between the number of nurses needed to practice primary nursing and the number of nurses available cannot be effectively bridged even with a significant ramp-up in enrollments and certainly not in a cost-effective way. The transition to a team-based or collaborative care model is challenging despite the need. Nursing leaders know they will need to do this but are not sure where to start.

In this 90-minute session for senior nursing leaders and executives, Dr. Rose Sherman will share guidance and strategies to help to jump-start your leadership team’s care redesign efforts and share the infrastructure needed to ensure success.
