As health care organizations look to embrace new care models, many will seek to incorporate virtual nursing as part of care delivery. Join us at ONL's Fall 2024 Quarterly Meeting, held via Zoom, to hear from leaders at two health systems that are leading the way in testing new care models by integrating virtual nursing care. Our speakers will share their approach, examples of how care is delivered, and key metrics.

This interactive virtual program will include dedicated time in the agenda for questions and discussion. Nurse leaders and nursing colleagues in academia are invited to participate to learn what is happening with the evolution of virtual nursing care in New England and around the country.

ONL Business Meeting

The ONL Business Meeting offers a chance to learn more about the core work of ONL to advance nursing leadership and support nurse leaders. Members of the ONL Board and staff provide updates and insights about key ONL priorities, project highlights, upcoming programs, member benefits, opportunities to get involved, policy and legislative activity in our region, and recent developments and key topics impacting nursing practice and nursing leadership. The Business Meeting is also a forum in which ONL recognizes and celebrates our members' recent milestones and achievements.

Gay Landstrom 

Gay Landstrom, PhD, RN, NEA-BC, FAONL, FACHE, FAAN, PCC
Senior Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer,
Trinity Health

Gay L. Landstrom is Senior Vice President & Chief Nursing Officer for Trinity Health, a national health system headquartered in Livonia, MI, with 100+ acute care hospitals, 100+ continuing care locations, and numerous ambulatory clinical practice sites. Prior to returning to Trinity Health, Dr. Landstrom served as the Market Chief Nursing Officer for Ascension Michigan, the Executive Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer for Dartmouth-Hitchcock Health system in New Hampshire and Vermont, and the System Chief Nursing Officer for Trinity Health prior to 2014. Dr. Landstrom additionally served as the Interim Chief Executive Officer of Dartmouth-Hitchcock’s Mt. Ascutney Hospital & Health Center in Windsor, VT. Under her leadership, nursing professional practice has been hallmarked by outstanding quality and safety, leadership development, evidence-based practice, innovative care delivery models, and the expansion of staff empowerment structures.

Dr. Landstrom has served as an Appraiser for the American Nurses Credentialling Center’s Magnet Program Office of the American Nurses Credentialing Center since 2006.

Dr. Landstrom was named an inaugural Fellow of the American Organization for Nursing Leadership. Her membership in national and international organizations includes American Academy of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau International, American College of Healthcare Executives, International Coaching Federation, Association for Leadership Science in Nursing, and the Michigan Organization of Nurse Leaders, where she has served as President. In 2023, she was inducted as a fellow of the American Academy of Nursing.

Dr. Landstrom received her bachelor's degree in nursing from Rush University in Chicago, her master's degree in nursing administration from the University of Illinois at Chicago, and her PhD in Nursing from the University of Michigan.  Her research interests include missed nursing care, safety climate, staffing effectiveness, and implementation science.

Lisa Zapatka 

Lisa Zapatka, DNP, RN, NEA-BC
Senior Vice President and Regional Chief Nursing Officer,
Trinity Health Of New England

Lisa Zapatka is seasoned Nurse Executive with an extensive background and proven expertise in nursing and clinical operations, fiscal stewardship, and strategic planning. Recognized as an energetic and highly visible leader, Lisa possesses intuitive skills for effective communication, teambuilding, innovation, and relationship-building that drive positive results.

Currently serving as the Senior Vice President and Regional Chief Nursing Officer at Trinity Health Of New England, Lisa oversees an integrated health care ministry comprising four acute care hospitals, two rehabilitation hospitals, a behavioral health hospital, physician practices, ambulatory access sites, and post-acute care services. In her role, Lisa provides leadership and direction for clinical and nursing operations, enhancing quality, safety, and patient experience, and achieving fiscal operational performance goals.

Prior to joining Trinity Health Of New England, Lisa was employed by Tenet Healthcare Corporation where she held several executive nursing leadership roles at both the regional and system level. Lisa has also served in a variety of nursing leadership positions for other health systems across New England including Saint Vincent Hospital in Worcester, MA; Landmark Health Services in Woonsocket, RI; The Westerly Hospital in Westerly, RI; and Roger Williams Medical Center in Providence, RI.

With a career marked by progressive leadership, innovation, and commitment to patient-centered care, Lisa has demonstrated excellence in all aspects of nursing. Lisa holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from Wilkes University, a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from the University Of Rhode Island, and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from Rhode Island College. In 2017, Lisa was recognized with the 2017 Rhode Island College Charles B. Willard Professional Achievement Award for distinguished career achievement. Lisa is an active member of the American Organization of Nurse Leaders and Sigma Theta Tau/Delta Epsilon – National Nursing Honor Society.

Laura Rashleger

Vice President of Nursing Operations and Virtual Nursing,
Advocate Health

Laura Rashleger, MSN, RN, NE-BC serves as the VP for Enterprise Nursing Operations and Virtual Nursing at Advocate Health. Laura has served in healthcare for 20 years and in progressive leadership roles with strong leadership in workforce optimization, innovative care delivery methods, and strategic operational leadership. She has proven success in lean methodology strategies, process improvement, organizational change management, and nursing workforce innovation. She is a participant on the AONL workforce committee, models of care learning community, and foundation strategic plan committee. ​

Theresa Brindise  

Theresa Brindise, MS, BSN, RN
Director, Tele-ICU and Virtual Nurse Program,
Advocate Health, Midwest Region

Theresa Brindise, MS,BSN,RN is the Director of the Tele-ICU and Virtual Nurse Program for Advocate Health Midwest Region. Theresa has more than 25 years of nursing and critical care experience and has held the positions of Director; Critical Care and Respiratory Manager; Educator and Administrative Supervisor. She holds a BSN from Loyola University and an MS from the University of St. Francis. She directs the integration of the Tele-ICU and Virtual Nurse Program across the system. ​

 Russell Tremblay  Russell Tremblay, MSN, RN, CMSRN, CAVRN, NE-BC

Director, Virtual Nurse Program,
Advocate Health, Southeast Region

Russell Tremblay MSN, RN, CMSRN, CAVRN, NE-BC serves as the Director of the Virtual Nurse Program for Advocate Health Southeast Region. He has served in healthcare with Advocate for over 20 years and in leadership roles for 15 years. Russell is an active ANA, NCONL, NCNA member and chairs the DAISY Nurse leader program in the southeast. ​
