Associate or Full Professor - Solomont School of Nursing (Full-Time)

The University of Massachusetts Lowell Susan and Alan Solomont School of Nursing seeks a full-time tenure-track faculty member with a solid research trajectory. We seek applicants recognized for scholarly productivity, ability to work with diverse populations, and excellent oral and written communication skills. The candidate may be appointed at the Associate or Full Professor level, depending upon qualifications.

About the Solomont School of Nursing:

The Solomont School of Nursing enrolls over 550 nursing students in BSN, RN to BSN, Master’s, Doctorate of Nursing Practice and PhD in Nursing programs and has 26 full-time faculty members. Faculty have diverse interests and conduct research in the areas of gerontology, geropsychiatric nursing, occupational health, pediatrics, nurse workforce and women’s health. Other areas of research are welcome.


The Solomont School of Nursing is located within the Zuckerberg College of Health Sciences. The Zuckerberg College of Health Sciences is a dynamic, growing College that prepares professionals and scientists in a wide range of health science fields.

Minimum Qualifications (Required):

  • Candidates must hold an earned research doctorate in nursing or a related field from an accredited institution. Candidates with a doctorate in a field other than nursing must have a master’s degree in nursing
  • Candidates must hold an active RN license; a Massachusetts RN license is required prior to the start of the employment
  • Previous and recent publication  in peer-reviewed journals
  • Teaching experience in higher education

Additional Considerations:

  • Evidence of academic teaching experience in four-year University/College institutions, including graduate teaching, is strongly preferred
  • Evidence of previous and/or current funding success is preferred

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Qualified candidates with substantial current external funding will be considered for the named Donna Manning Endowed Faculty Chair for Nursing. The Endowed Faculty Chair will lead research and mentor faculty in the Solomont School of Nursing.
  • Candidates considered for the Donna Manning Endowed Chair must have substantial external funding in hand
  • Candidates must have evidence of academic experience in mentoring faculty in the areas of scholarship, research, and teaching
  • Minimum of two years in the rank of Associate Professor
  • A vision that will help position the School to be prominent on the national stage
  • Leadership in national professional societies is preferred
  • Editorial board experience is preferred
