Eda Roth is speaking at ONL Spring meeting 2018.Eda Roth is an actress and consultant who specializes in bringing theatre based skills to professional communications.  She has taught presentation and communication skills and has worked extensively in the area of leadership, helping executives to develop clear messages and powerfully and effectively engage others. Using acting and directing skills she helps people connect more deeply with their messages, achieve a fuller range of their own expression, and reach audiences more strategically and genuinely.

Ms. Roth taught in Boston University’s School of Management Leadership Institute since it began, and for fifteen years taught in the Executive MBA program. She has been a faculty member of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Executive Nurse Fellows program since its creation.

Presence–A Powerful Tool

How you present is usually as powerful as what you present. A trained actress and communication expert, Eda Roth has taught hundreds of leaders the best approaches to creating a more powerful presence.  This highly interactive session will explore practical and creative ways to establish a presence that uses the leader’s affect and clarity to powerfully engage others.  Ms. Roth will highlight key principles of effective messaging, message ownership, and dealing with barriers to a powerful presence and clear communication.  It will reinforce the idea that “small changes make a big difference”.  You will leave this session with a toolkit for expanding your presence at all levels of your organization.

     Objectives:

  • Describe core elements in creating an effective presence
  • Describe effective presence enhancing techniques
  • Identify strategies to overcome common barriers to a powerful and effective presence

Mastering the New Media Landscape

Health leaders are not effectively using social media to advance their careers and educate the public.  Many health leaders do not understand the opportunities that exist for them in social media and should be empowered to use social media more effectively. Mr. Shelton has been helping leaders leverage social media for more than a decade, and will share examples of how to use social media for engagement, thought leadership, and advocacy.

     Objectives:

  • Conduct an online brand audit on themselves and their facility
  • Identify 3 ways social media has changed over the last year
  • Discuss at least 3 specific strategies aligned with using social media as a healthcare leader
